Why isn’t my progress in the app synchronized with my progress in the web version?
Most likely, you are using different accounts in the app and in the web version. You can check your User IDs in the accounts. For that:
- Go to Profile in the app and scroll to the end. Your User ID will be there;
- Go to Profile in the web version. Your User ID can be found on the page itself and in the link to your profile.
After you checked the IDs, sign in under your preferable account on every device you plan to use for learning. You can delete the account you don’t need.
Why can’t I sign in?
If you already have a Stepik account but unable to sign in the app, we suggest you do one of the following:
- Check whether you use the correct e-mail and password. If you need, you can reset the password by tapping or clicking Forgot password? under the sign in form.
- Make sure you aren’t trying to sign in by an account that doesn’t exist. Probably, you are entering an e-mail or social media account that isn’t associated with any Stepik account. To find out what e-mail you used for your current account, sign in in the web version and go to https://stepik.org/edit-profile/email.
How to use an external player on Android if I have issues with the internal app player?
You can use the default system player or any other you have installed on your device. To enable it, go to the app settings (Profile -> gear wheel icon), then to Video and enable Open in an external player.
Can I take exams in the app?
Unfortunately, exams are only available in the web version. If you have an important exam due, please sign in at https://stepik.org/ on any other more suitable device (for example, a laptop or PC).
I signed up in the app using my Apple ID. How can I sign in to the web version?
When you register an account via Apple ID, a unique random e-mail is created. You can find it in your profile in the app. It ends with @privaterelay.appleid.com.
You can find this unique e-mail to set a password for your account. To do that, enter it in the password reset form at https://stepik.org/accounts/password/reset/
You will receive the password reset letter at your e-mail you originally used to create your Apple ID. Make sure that forwarding is enabled for the Stepik app in your Apple ID (Check if Forward To in Apps Using Apple ID is enabled for the Stepik app).
After that, you can sign in to the web version using this unique address and new password. Also, you can set another email instead of your Apple ID.
How do I change the name in a certificate in the app?
To use the name displayed in a certificate, go to Profile, scroll down and tap Certificates. You’ll see the full list of your certificates. Choose the one you want to change your name in and tap Change recipient name. Enter the correct name and tap OK. Please note that for one certificate, you can change the name only once, so take caution while entering the name and don’t make mistakes.
How to purchase a course in an app?
You can purchase the course via Stepik website and take the course in the app.
You can purchase a course in the Android app build 1.217. In later versions, purchasing courses in the Android app is not available.
Starting September 14, 2022, in-app purchases of courses in the Apple app are no longer available.
